Freni e Frizioni’s New Drink List

What if the person sitting next to you at the bar became a cocktail?
That’s exactly the idea behind Freni e Frizioni’s latest cocktail menu, Bar Stereotype. Known for creating menus built around strong concepts, the Roman cocktail bar has once again come up with something refreshingly original.

This time, the stars of the menu aren’t classic cocktails or rare spirits, they’re the people you’ll find at almost any bar.
The person who insists on trying something new but inevitably orders a Daiquiri.
The regular who recently discovered the Paloma and now refuses to drink anything else.
The Martini fanatic who genuinely believes there’s only one cocktail worth ordering.
If you’ve spent any time sitting at a bar, you’ve probably met every one of them.
Reading through the menu, it’s impossible not to smile. Rather than simply listing drinks, it feels like flipping through a tongue in cheek field guide to the characters bartenders have observed night after night from behind the counter.

A Menu Full of Personality
Adding even more charm to the concept are the illustrations by Cultivar, Freni e Frizioni’s longtime creative partner.
Each stereotype is portrayed as a mischievous, slightly punk-looking dog. They’re quirky, imperfect, and full of personality, exactly the kind of visual identity that matches the bar itself.
The commitment didn’t stop there. The team even produced a photo shoot featuring real dogs, bringing the illustrated characters into the real world. It’s a detail that perfectly reflects how much thought went into this menu.

Every Drink Tells a Story
The names alone are enough to make you curious, but the recipes reveal just how cleverly each personality has been translated into flavor.
NERD
This was easily my favorite cocktail of the evening.
Inspired by the cocktail geek who discovered the bar world a little later than everyone else but now can’t stop talking about classic cocktails, NERD is built around Santa Teresa 1796 rum and Leblon Cachaça, with blueberry, caramel, soy milk, and condensed milk, clarified into a silky milk punch.
The result is incredibly smooth. Bright blueberry notes mingle with soft caramel sweetness before giving way to the rich depth of the rum.
It’s sweet without ever feeling heavy, polished without losing its playful character. The contrast between the stereotype, a self-proclaimed classic cocktail purist and such a modern milk punch makes the drink even more enjoyable.

MARTINI FANATIC
As the name suggests, this cocktail is made for people who believe there’s no point ordering anything other than a Martini.
The description says it all “Martini or nothing.”
Made with Tanqueray No. TEN, Mancino Dry and Ambra Vermouth, it’s a beautifully crafted Dirty Martini.
And when it comes to the garnish, the menu refuses to choose between olives and a lemon twist. The answer? Both.
Served dry, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for, crisp, elegant, and packed with citrus brightness, while subtle peppery notes gradually reveal themselves as you sip.
You can also order it in a Wet version, making it worth revisiting even if you’ve already tried it once.
For Martini lovers, this drink alone is reason enough to visit.

THE JOURNALIST
“Food can wait. You’re here for the bar. You order a Negroni because it’s work… but secretly you’re having the best time.”
As someone who writes about bars, I couldn’t help laughing.
Built on a Negroni foundation with coconut water and tropical tea, it transforms the classic into something unexpectedly bright and summery.
It’s a wonderfully self-aware joke aimed at those of us who claim we’re “working” while clearly enjoying ourselves a little too much.

LAST MAN STANDING
The guest who arrives at aperitivo and somehow is still sitting at the bar after everyone else has gone home.
According to the menu, he’s also the guy who keeps ordering “one last drink” no matter how many times he’s been turned down.
Built in the style of a Vieux Carré using Jack Daniel’s Bonded Rye, Diplomático, Benedictine and other bold ingredients, it’s a robust cocktail with an ABV of 25.5%.
Just like its character, it’s unapologetically strong and brilliantly executed.

THE TOURIST
“Pizza, pasta… and Spritz.”
Every city has them.
The travelers who spend their entire Italian holiday drinking Spritz.
Made with St-Germain, raspberry, Prosecco, lemon sorbet and hard seltzer, it’s refreshing, light and made for a hot Roman afternoon.
Although it pokes fun at tourists, it’s the kind of drink locals would happily order too.

More Than Just a Clever Idea
Concept-driven cocktail menus sometimes end up feeling like clever marketing exercises.
Freni e Frizioni avoids that trap completely.
The storytelling is witty, the illustrations are memorable, but most importantly, every cocktail is genuinely delicious. The creativity never overshadows the quality in the glass.
That’s exactly why every new menu from Freni feels like an event.
Bar Stereotype will be available until the end of August.
Whether you’re visiting Rome for the first time or you’re already a regular at Freni e Frizioni, this is a menu worth experiencing.
By the time you’re ready to order your first drink, you’ll probably already be deciding which stereotype sounds most like you.
