Counter-Intuitive

5 June, 2026

In 2015, the Roman bar scene was vibrant, but Emanuele Broccatelli was already thinking beyond the rim of the glass, reimagining how, where and by whom the glass gets filled. With a career forged in the high-pressure environments of luxury hotels and elite cocktail bars between Rome and London, Broccatelli possessed more than just a technical skill—he had "court vision." He recognized an approaching opportunity in the industry: the gap between rising demand for complex pours and the operational challenge of maintaining consistency across high-volume venues. Amaro Don Carlo

10 May, 2026

The first time I saw the name Eboli on a map, the very first thing that came to mind was the famous title by Carlo Levi. “Christ Stopped at Eboli.” Quietly resting inland in the Campania region, south of Naples, this small town became immortalized in world literature through the novel published in 1945. On the hilltop, the old stone town spreads out in overlapping layers, surrounded quietly by olive groves and farmland. In the afternoon, the harsh southern Italian sunlight falls across the dry white walls, while church bells ring in the distance. There is an atmosphere here that feels somehow suspended in time, different from either Rome or Naples.

One of the world’s most renowned distilleries, The Macallan, has just celebrated its 200th anniversary. Founded in Scotland’s Speyside region, its legacy spans two centuries. Now, the brand is taking a step forward into the future with a refreshed look. The redesign of its bottles and packaging maintains an elegant aesthetic, while introducing a more modern and dynamic feel. But this change is not merely visual.

Amaro16.20: When Being Different

2 April, 2026

In recent years, the world of amaro has been expanding rapidly.Driven by the rise of craft culture, new producers continue to enter the market, and back bars are now more diverse than ever before.Yet at the same time, many bartenders have begun to notice something else, more and more amari seem to taste… familiar.Similar botanicals, elevated sweetness, and a strong focus on drinkability. When these elements overlap, what emerges is not individuality, but uniformity.Against this backdrop, Amaro 16.20 presents a clearly different approach.
